3 Vital Reasons to Use a Ground Blind While Hunting

Most hunters use tree blinds and don’t think twice about having a ground blind place. However, when used in the right way and placed in the right spot, it can be a very valuable tool during hunting season. Here are three reasons you need to be using a ground blind:

1. Quick, No-Fuss Set-Up

Sometimes, it is hard to get into your tree stand without being detected. This kills your chances of securing a good kill. A ground blind is quick and easy to get set up and can be set anywhere – even if no trees are around. They’re incredibly easy to get in and out of, which increases your chances of getting a good buck in range to kill. Plus, if you’re limited on time that you can spend hunting, a ground blind is a perfect solution to not miss out on the time in the wild.

2. Contain Your Scent

The last thing you want is for the deer or game that you are hunting to smell you. Ground blinds are excellent at preserving your scent – as long as you don’t have all the windows opened. With that being said, you should never open more than one at a time or you are allowing your scent to flow right out into the woods for your potential kill to catch a whiff of. Even though a ground blind will help in containing your scent, you still likely want to take extra precautionary steps by spraying the blind.

3. Easy to Conceal

Although you need to contain your scent, you also need to conceal your location. While the blind may blend in, you need to take a few extra steps in ensuring your hide-out is secure. Take any branches, brush, etc. in the area to add a natural effect to your blind.

You should never replace your tree stand with a ground blind because you’ll still need to hunt from a tree at certain times. However, a ground blind is something very important to have. They’re an easy in and out, comfortable, versatile and offer a number of advantages that your tree stand doesn’t.
